Implants
Implants are synthetic structures that are placed in the area of the tooth normally occupied by the root. The most common type of implants used today are called root form, because they are shaped similar to the tooth's natural root. They are made of titanium and coated with one of several different substances to stimulate the natural bone growth, which will hopefully cause the implant to be successful. Implants are placed in the jawbone to act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. Implants can also be used to attach dentures.
